During the week, things usually have to be done quickly. Often the time only allows for a quick coffee; in Hamburg you can find a Franzbrötchen (a croissant with jam) almost everywhere. You make your first coffee in your apartment; there is a capsule machine there.
For an extensive breakfast, here are five tips, close to our houses in the HafenCity and in Eimsbüttel. Local services for the whole day are included in our guides Food and drink in Hamburg HafenCity and Eating and drinking in Hamburg Eimsbüttel.
Franzbrötchen or Kaiserschmarrn. Coffee on the hand or breakfast until the afternoon. HafenCity or Eimsbüttel.

Breakfast in Eimsbüttel
Cosy right around the corner
Two cafes on Eppendorfer Weg and on Osterstraße. Both are worth a visit for lunch as well.
Cafe Kropkå
At the small café Kropkå, almost everything is homemade. The coffee comes from a small roastery in Lübeck, the bread from the wood-fired oven, and the marmalade and cakes are made in-house. In the afternoon, there are filled country breads, for example with roasted mushrooms, avocado or bacon.

Heart of the matter
When the sun is shining, the terrace is the heart of the place and a great place to start the day. The breakfast menu is quite modest: overnight muesli, fruit bowl, avocado smoothie, scrambled eggs with farm bread. In the afternoons and evenings you can also eat here easily, even when it rains inside.
