From our house on the Opera It’s a short walk to the Belgian quarter. On Aachener Straße, fine cafés line up between Brabanter and Brüsseler Straße. Great for a quick cappuccino or a few eggs with muesli. All four have outdoor seating and open at 9 a.m.

Café Jakubowski
The Café Jakubowski is located in the heart of Mülheim and has now become a real institution. From our House on the Clevischen Ring It’s a short walk. More of a weekend tip: It doesn’t start until 10 AM, with porridge, muesli and scrambled eggs.

Cafe Buur
It may take time to get a place here: The Buur is the hotspot for the blogger scene in the Belgian quarter. The success formula of pancakes, scrambled eggs variations and international dishes like Shakshuka is now available in three other German cities and in Dubai. Vegans will also find plenty to enjoy here.

Breakfast in the morning, star-level dinner. Everything is homemade, from the birch muesli to the gingerbread schnitzel. The glass corner restaurant is a little hidden and has outdoor seating as well.
Brauhaus Schäfer
The city’s most modern brewery attracts visitors on Saturdays and Sundays with its Shepherd’s Breakfast: sandwiches, pancakes, red beet shakshuka, meat pies and egg specialties.
